At this moment I have fleshed out an idea for the project. I want to create a composition that captures my interpretation of the mood at the urban farm when I was there. It will be a mix of sounds from the city (sounds nearby such as wind chimes), the animals, my dulcimer, Max MSP, and my vocals. There’s a sadness about the farm that I wanted to convey in my own voice. Not necessarily to say a farm is an unhappy place, but to express myself and my feelings surrounding animals in captivity. I hoped that my voice would be in dialogue with the sounds from the environment as well. My MAX patch quite literally sonifies a portrait of some of the animals at the farm and is a recurring theme that my voice wraps around.
