I thought initially that I was going to re-record the vocals I first put into my composition, but I have grown to actually love the vocals I originally put in the piece. I planned to re-record with an AudioTechnica mic and even wanted to try using a mic traditionally used for harmonica (Shure 500dx), however after I recorded my vocals with both mics I felt like they didn’t compare to the first vocal track I had made. There was something haunting about the vocals to me that I didn’t want to let go of and I think this might have been due to the fact that I recorded them with a contact mic pressed up against my vocal cords. Perhaps why I feel they are eerie is because they feel distant somehow.
