The critique prior to Spring break inspired improvement for the next coming months in my group’s game. Communication between my group successfully helped us create a sound for the game that felt cohesive despite splitting so much of the work between us. I was pleased to hear from the class that the sounds felt like they matched the game visuals well. Much of the game felt very cutesy with a realistic touch. So the game sounds for the game menu fit really well in that cutesy aspect, but the environmental sounds worked well for the natural disasters and more serious tones of the game. One of the critiques that I really valued was the idea of perspective in regards to the video game character and its virtual world in the game. Using the knowledge I am learning about Fmod maybe I can be more detailed about where certain atmospheric sounds are coming from in the game. For example, if the bee is flying over land and suddenly comes across a body of water to the left I could include that sound and be specific about the direction of where the sound of water is coming from as well. My knowledge of Fmod and unity still feel lacking in many ways. Researching a little more on how I can use the two programs may be helpful. I really want to experiment with more creativity with the sounds this time and maybe add many more details to the environment.
